DSC Planning Application now live!
After much detailed preparation our Development Plan application is now ready to view on the Southwark Planning Portal. It can be viewed here. We think it is an fantastic opportunity to develop the long term future of our club, as well as increasing participation in sport locally.
You will find all the detail, the full plans and background reports on the Southwark website – but here is a brief summary:
- The 5 court Padel Tennis hub, at the back of the main pavilion, will provide plenty of sport and social activity from that fast-growing sport.
- Our 3 new floodlit clay tennis courts will bring together a tennis hub around the lower pavilion creating better facilities and more of a “club feel” than we can achieve with the current layout and enable us to increase membership and participation.
- Site reconfiguration with the conversion of 4 tennis courts at the rear of Turney Road, to a 2.5 lawn croquet hub.
- A new “mini-pavilion” has been designed to support the new 2.5 lawn croquet hub, and provide facilities for all members at the Turney Road side of the site.
- The cricket pitch remains our centrepiece, and new protective high ball nets will be installed to meet necessary safety standards.
- In our mission to improve accessibility throughout the club, we will be installing a new ramp to the pavilion, and improved paths to enable easier access to all areas of the grounds.
- A new cycle hub with more and better facilities for cyclists, will help increase sustainable transport to the club. We will also be landscaping and planting to improve our appearance and bio-diversity.
